María Benjumea, founder and president of South Summit

María Benjumea is a prominent figure in the world of entrepreneurship. After participating in the Taller del Arte Project at the age of 25 and in Círculo de Progreso in 1981, she founded Infoempleo in 1995, which became the leading employment portal. In 2011, she successfully launched the Lidera Program in collaboration with the Community of Madrid, aimed at empowering and uplifting women under the slogan «If you want, you can!» In 2012, amid a severe economic crisis, she founded South Summit, the most global network of valuable connections for all stakeholders in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Last June, South Summit held its 13th edition in Madrid, attracting more than 18,000 attendees from 133 countries. Additionally, South Summit held its first edition in South Korea and is also present in Brazil, where it recently held its third edition, following successful events in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Argentina.
